GS - Alumni in Conversation: Columbia Abroad

This event will take place at 10am PDT/1pm PDT and will be virtual.

Enjoy an interactive and engaging conversation about the international alumni experience, and getting involved with Columbia Clubs abroad.

Columbia's School of General Studies is pleased to offer a new way to connect with alumni working across diverse fields. Each month, join us for conversation and Q&A that provides an inside look at different paths alumni take after graduating from Columbia.

On July 27th, hear from Chantal Schuster '06GS, '07SIPA, President of the Columbia Club of Belgium, and Selby Byashimova '13GS, President of the Columbia Club of Italy.

This event is open to all Columbia University students and alumni.

Chantal Schuster ‘06GS

Chantal Schuster is the co-founder of I.L. & C., where she is currently in charge of internal and external communication. Prior to this, she lived and worked in France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Chantal holds a B.A. in political science from Columbia University and a master’s degree in international affairs from SIPA. She is fluent in French, English, German, and Italian, and has been a member of the Board of the Columbia Club of Belgium since 2010 and its President since 2018.

Selby Byashimova '13GS

Selby Byashimova is currently working at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO) in Rome, Italy, where she analyzes income shifts in varying organization units. Prior to this appointment, she was engaged at other United Nations agencies worldwide, including Jordan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Selby holds a B.S. from Columbia University, and is a global traveler with a background in biomedicine and investment banking who speaks in four languages every day. She plans to help build a more dynamic alumni association, creating a strong image for the University abroad while serving as a powerful networking, business, and diplomatic tool for Columbia alumni.
