Everyone enjoyed the West Observatory Trail hike back in May so much, we're doing another one!
This time we'll be doing the Los Leones Trail (difficulty rating: moderate)—Los Leones? Columbia Lions? As many of you requested, this will be closer to the Westside in Pacific Palisades. In fact, this location was suggested by someone from the last hike (member participation is how things get done).
Current conditions: The trail is overgrown in many places and rocky in some, with little or no tree cover. Dress accordingly. The trail is narrow in some places and can get crowded. Read more about the trail here.
Parking: There are a few small parking areas close to the trailhead—otherwise street parking. As always when you park to go hiking, keep all valuables out of sight. Err on the side of caution.
Please be extra early, accounting for possible traffic and finding parking. We will leave promptly.
IMPORTANT: There are no restrooms anywhere along the trail. Arrive prepared.
Again, some things you might want to take with you:
- sturdy shoes
- sunscreen
- sunglasses
- phone/camera
- water
We may meet for lunch after for those who want.
