Private Tour: Alejandro Gehry Studio

Join us for a private tour of the Venice studio of artist Alejandro Gehry. The site, which includes both live and work spaces, was designed and built by Gehry’s father, the world-famous architect Frank Gehry.

Alumni will enjoy a private guided tour with the artist himself. Come speak to Alejandro about what inspires him, his creative process and his love of learning and teaching. Light bites will be served. Space is very limited, and we expect this event to sell out quickly, so RSVP today!

Born in Santa Monica in 1976, Alejandro Gehry graduated in 1998 with a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is also a teacher of illustration and painting at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Gehry has primarily worked in oils on a large scale. Honing in on his skills and aesthetic development, he finds himself pushing against societal boundaries.

Gehry’s most recent exhibit “Dazzle” was inspired by his collaboration with his father, Frank Gehry. The works began as decorative, abstract, painted treatments for a 3-D model of a building in the planning process or were based on the geometric "Razzle Dazzle" patterns painted on ships during WWI and the post-war era. Over time, Gehry introduced bright and primary colors into the works.

Gehry’s is also known for figurative work. His “Women of Punk” is a collection of large scale portraits of 1970s and 80s women in Punk Rock. His “Empires Make Up” explores the history of military regalia, combat and the portrayal of women in combat history.
